Our Story

Getting the Keys
This was the fastest recorded Community Asset Transfer (CAT) in Scotland, completed on 12th July 2022 after a tough 6 months. This building is now 100% under community ownership after successfully purchasing the library & carpark for £57k.
The Work Begins
We worked closely with local architects to make the building feel more open and welcoming. We did this by making the toilet facilities accessible to all and adding a new doorway to the hall to flow to the upstairs of the building. We also upgraded the roof, windows, interior layout and exterior walls.
New Sky Light
When we removed the lowered ceiling, we revealed the most gorgeous window which had been hidden all these years! We took it upon ourselves to replace the fittings and glass. Once completed we have the most gorgeous sky light in The Bothy.
New Library Space
You asked; we delivered! The asset transfer has paved the way for the future of the Bothwell Library, and it shall remain in our Community Hub.
Grand Opening
We did it! An historic day for all at the official opening of YOUR Bothwell Community Hub. It is truly amazing to be a part of a day, highlighting what can be achieved when a community comes together, to protect an iconic community asset. We couldn’t have done it without your support. THANK YOU!
